If the effects are lighting or some special effects then yes, we are based in Chadstone. In some cases where we are doing a site inspection with you, we can bring some of the effects with us to show you how they will look at your event.
Frequently Asked Questions
The FAQs
How much notice do you need for a show?
We need to lodge all our paper work 7 days prior to the show at the very latest, for outdoor display this can be up to 3 months depending on council requirements.
We ask for at least 2-3 weeks so that we can order all the correct products for your show, if we have less than this time, some products may not be available and we will need to use substitutes.
As we have limited staff and equipment, we ask that you book and confirm the show as soon as possible, we will accept jobs for dates up until that date is fully booked out, after this we will try and help by organising other businesses that may be able to help.
What do I need to do to book a show?
- Contact us about the show, either by phone, 0424-270-723, email or through our facebook messenger service.
- Discuss your requirements and we’ll give you some suggestions and send you a quote, we may need to do a site inspection with/without you at the venue to make sure its suitable.
- Confirm via email that you would like to lock in the date.
- We will email you a contract and payment information for your deposit.
- Sign and send back the contract and the deposit payment.
- The show is now locked in for you and we wont need any more information from you until 1 month before the show.
How much is the deposit for the show and when is it due?
The deposit for the show is 50% of the total cost, we ask this to be paid when signing the contract so that we can lock the show in.
The balance is due 1 month prior to the wedding/event.
What information will I need to provide you?
- We will need a full running sheet for the event, this needs to be detailed and show times when guests are due to arrive at the venue, what time meal service will be and what time during the night we will need to provide effects. If there are secret parts during the night, please let us know, we will keep them a secret as much as possible.
- Will the effects be a surprise for your partner, we are good at keeping secrets if we know that we need to do this, we have done surprise shows many times and sometimes the surprise is ruined when we don’t know its meant to be a surprise, please let us know when booking.
- For indoor shows we will need a proper floor plan, one that is digitally made, please no hand drawn floor plans if possible. A fire plan is suitable as this will have all the fire exits included.
- If you are doing a performance to music like a first dance, please send us a youtube link to the version of the song you are dancing to, if its a custom mix, please send us the mix itself. This is so we can pick the best part of the song to start the fireworks and give you that suggestion, you can of course ask us to use a different time in the song.
Is it only set packages that you can do?
No, we can do completely custom shows based on your requirements, budget and venue.
Do you have environmentally friendly versions of confetti?
We have a specific type of confetti that can be used outdoors, this confetti disolves in water almost instantly and can be eaten by animals. This confetti cannot be used indoors as it will disolve into the carpet and make floors slippery if wet. Our normal paper confetti will eventually degrade outdoors, it just may take several rainy days to do this. We offer a foil style confetti too which doesn’t dissolve and should be used only indoors to avoid enviromental damage.
Do all venues allow confetti to be used?
Some venues do not allow confetti, some venues allow confetti but charge a cleaning fee and some venues have no issue with confetti at all. Before booking confetti with us, please ask your venue or if you would like, we can discuss it with the venue on your behalf and explain the size, style of confetti and how to clean the confetti after the show.
Do you have any female technicians?
Yes we do but we are limited to number of females we have employed, if you need to have a female technician, please let us know early in the booking process. At the moment none of our female technicians have firework licenses, we can substitute the fireworks with sparkulars as long as the venue allows this.
Why aren't prices included on your website?
Each show requires us to look at the venue requirements and restrictions, some venues will require more work than other venues therefor we will quote you based on your show in particular. We also will give you our suggestions as not each product is suitable for each venue.
Can I add more effects to my event closer to the date?
Many of our customers book small shows to lock in the date and closer to the date find their budgets allow for bigger and better shows. We love helping people to do this when we can, some effects can get booked out so being quicker is always better but its easier to organise equipment than it is to organise extra staff.
Is there a difference between Sparkular machines and Fireworks?
There is a difference in the way we setup the product and operate it, sparkulars can be used multiple times throughout the night where fireworks are a one time thing. In terms of how they look, there is almost no difference in the way they look for the untrained eye.
I'm not sure if I can do fireworks in my venue, are there any restrictions?
There are some restrictions in some venues, there are venues that allow only Sparkular machines compared to fireworks, there are other venues that are the complete opposite. We have yet to find a venue which we cannot provide some variation of Sparkulars or fireworks, the main thing that may stop us from providing the products is our safety exclusion zones that we need to setup.
How is the dry ice surcharge calculated?
We can access supply of dry ice usually on a Friday afternoon as the last day before a weekend, if your wedding is on a Saturday we charge a small amount to pick up extra ice on the Friday, Sunday weddings have a slightly higher amount as we need to pick up extra ice to last until the Sunday. Dry ice is a consumable commodity, it evaporates quite quickly and our normal 10kg of ice that we pickup will not last with enough ice left over for a full show.
How long does 10kg of dry ice last during the show?
10kg of dry ice will last between 3-5 minutes during the dance, for bigger rooms we need to push more output from the machines and they will run out of ice faster, dry ice is usually a one time thing, once we put it in the machine, its hard to stop the smoke and start it again later.
How long do I need to give between dry ice shows?
We can organise extra dry ice machines for you so you can do multiple shows right after each other, if you want to save money though, we suggest at least 1 hour between dry ice shows.
You have quoted me for 4 technicians, can't we use just 1?
The 4 on your quote or invoice is based on number of hours, we have a minimum of 4 hours for all our work, we usually spend at least 1.5 hours for each event.
What if my wedding/event is longer than 4 hours and I need the technician to stay longer?
Please let us know that you will be needing the technician for more than 4 hours, we will then make sure to organise everything for you so there are no issues on the day.
What if my wedding/event is running late?
We assume most weddings will run late, we presume this will be up to 30 minutes, if your wedding is running more than 30 minutes behind schedule then we may have a few issues and we would ask you to rearrange some of the things in the night, this is due to our paperwork being based on specific times. We will be as accomidating as possible but legally we have a specific timeframe to work in, especially for outdoor shows where we may be effecting airtraffic in the area.
What happens if its raining on the day?
We are able to provide outdoor fireworks during rainy days, we setup the fireworks in a way that limits any water damage and all our equipment is rainproof.
What happens if its a fire ban day?
As part of our paperwork, we put in an application for a fire ban permit, as licensed pyrotechnicians we are rarely rejected for our fire ban permits, if we are unable to receive this permit we will let you know before the date. If we are unable to do the show due to fire ban restrictions, we will provide a refund for the show.
How long before our wedding/event would you arrive?
For dry ice jobs, we arrive 1.5 hours before we need to use the machines as this is the time it takes the machines to heat up.
For indoor firework displays, we usually arrive 30 minutes before the time we need to use them, this can be extended if there are a lot more fireworks than normal.
For outdoor firework displays, we will arrive roughly 2-3 hours before the launch time to setup, this can be extended if the sun will set more than 2 hours before the launch time, we need at least 1 hour of day time to setup.
Are there any reasons an outdoor show will not go ahead?
- Other than fire ban days we are only obligated to cancel a show on days where the wind is extremely fast and blowing in the direction where the fireworks would be blown over the audience or houses in the area.
- We cannot provide firework displays during thunderstorms, the static in the air is able to trigger the fireworks and is considered extremely dangerous, on days predicted to be thunderstorms we will monitor the weather conditions and make a judgement call on the day.
- If we are advised of an emergency flight taking place over the firing site, we will need to pause or postpone the show by a few minutes, other than the slight pause, the show will go on as usual.
- If there is another pandemic and all events are cancelled such as was shown in 2020 during the COVID-19 virus.
If my show is cancelled because of thunderstorms, high wind days fire bans, will I get a refund?
Yes, you will receive a refund for most if not all of the money paid, in some cases where the whole event has to be postponed, we will offer you a credit to be used for your next date if we have enough time to do our paperwork.
If I have to change my event date or location, will there be a charge?
- In most cases there wont be a charge for location date if the new venue isn’t much further than the original venue, we will recalculate the delivery cost based on the new location and will let you know if there’s any extra charges.
- If you change your date and its over 1 month before the event, we will not charge for the change of date, we may have to charge extra for additional dry ice or other date related costs.
- If under a month before your wedding, we will do our best to avoid charging any change of date fees but it will depend completely on the demand for your old date.
I noticed at a friends wedding you bring in cameras, what are they for?
To promote the work we do we bring in some video cameras or at the very least try and take some photos/videos on our phones. We only use a very small portion of this video on our social media platforms to promote and will send you a full video after the wedding if we have usable footage. We try to set these cameras up in a way to not interfere with any professional video or photo companies you have hired. If you have religious requirements for us not using the footage, please let us know and we will not upload the videos.
Please note we don’t bring cameras to every show, please do not rely on our videos for your wedding.
